Who We Are Looking For:

We are seeking Rescue Rehabilitators. This role will report to and work collaboratively with a Senior Trainer/Behaviorist of K9 Soul and partner with Rescue Advocates.

What We Want You to Do:

  • The main goal of a Rescue Rehabilitator is to offer exceptional daily care and support to your foster pup so that he/she can become a balanced dog and become as adoptable as possible.

  • Work on moderate to high behavioral issues.

  • Follow a pre-established decompression and daily care schedule that has been approved by your pup’s advocate and trainer.

  • Be present for and interview potential adopter meet and greets.

  • Transport your foster pup to vet appointments when necessary. All vet fees will be covered by your pup’s rescue.

  • Post 1 picture/video per day on social media promoting your foster pup or send 1 picture per day to your foster’s advocate (if you do not have social media accounts).

  • 1 30-minute zoom check-in every week with your pup’s foster advocate and/or trainer.


What We Want to See:

  • 5+ years of experience in dog care including dog walking, caretaking, and basic knowledge of dog body language and communication.

  • 5+ years of experience working with dogs that have moderate to severe behavioral issues including resource guarding, human aggression, dog aggression, leash reactivity, leash aggression, and/or extreme fears resulting in behavioral issues.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of Basic Dog Commands

  • Knowledge of Basic Dog Communication and Body Language


Who You Are:

  • A proud and self-professed dog person and caretaker!!

  • Have successfully rehabilitated at least 2 dogs with at least one of the following behavioral issues: food aggression, human guarding, dog aggression, extreme fears, shutdown, leash reactivity and/or have worked with a dog with a bite history. 

  • Passionate about the latest developments in dog psychology, dog behavior modification, and care.

  • Fast learner and open to constructive criticism.

  • Collaborative team player with the ability to shift gears quickly, efficiently, and effectively.

  • Dependable and reliable with clear thinking and attention to detail.

  • Great sense of humor and outlook on life . . . we laugh a lot and like to have a good time!


All Rescue Rehabilitators must pass a:

  • Background Check

  • Initial Homecheck

  • Homecheck and dog check-ins

  • Pet CPR + First Aid Certification


Salary and Benefits:

  • Competitive monthly stipend

  • The rescue will cover food for your foster pup.

Pay: Up to $700.00 per month DOE
